POSITION FILLED We're hiring a full-time Barista!

Red Emma's has an immediate opening in our Food Department for an experienced barista! Join our team of worker-owner coffee fanatics, and help us keep things running smoothly while we work together to improve sales and the quality of our coffee.

What we're looking for:

Someone who loves coffee, has a good understanding of our coffees or an eagerness to learn, and someone who is willing to work long hours to help with the day-to-day backend tasks of running a business! Professional experience as a barista is not required, but is helpful. Our ideal candidate is someone who's excited about making a long-term commitment to developing the Red Emma's cafe, and who's capable of (and excited about) working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a team of other like-minded folks.

Women, people of color, queer folks, transgender folks, and people from other traditionally marginalized communities are especially encouraged to apply.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ordering Coffee

Scheduling espresso machine maintenance

Shift coordination and scheduling

Stock management (ordering, supply chain development)

Customer relations

At Red Emma's, everyone in the food department shares the responsibilities of keeping the business running - baristas wash dishes, clean, and restock the shelves along with everyone else. We work long hours, spend a lot of time on our feet, and a lot of time sampling excellent coffee! We're looking for someone who's excited about being a part of our barista team, and helping to grow the business.

Hours, wages, and beyond:

We're looking for someone who is available full-time starting in November. Evening and weekend availability is a requirement, but we'll work with you to find a schedule that works for you, and for us.

At Red Emma's, all workers have a starting wage of $11/hour.

This position is for a permanent worker-owner of the business; getting hired means you are on track to become a member and co-owner of the worker cooperative, and will be expected to participate in our monthly full collective operational meetings, our quarterly full collective financial meetings, as well as twice-monthly department meetings.  At the successful end of a six month process, you will be a full member of the cooperative and an equal co-owner of the business.

How to apply:

Email a letter of interest and a resume (or recent work history) to baristajob@redemmas.org by Nov. 1. Tell us why you're interested in being a worker-owner at Red Emma's, and why we should consider you as a good candidate for our barista team. Our top candidates will be interviewed the week of November 3rd.
